To be exact Langtang Valley is located between the main Himalayan range to the north along with bordering Tibet and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the south. Itinerary

After your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will meet with one of the team delegates from the company. He will welcome you on behalf of us at the airport and transfer you to your hotel, where you rest for the day. In the evening, you meet with your guide, and he briefs you about tomorrow's program. You end your day with a welcome dinner organized by the company.

You wake up early and go on a guided sightseeing tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. During the tour, you will visit Swayambhunath, Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Later, in the day, you prepare for the trek.

Today, we drove to Syabrubesi after having our breakfast. Syabrubesi is a beautiful village, which is also the starting point of treks in the Langtang region. The drive will be long on a winding road. The journey will also present us amazing views of Mt. Annapurna (8,091), Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m), and Ganesh Himal (7,429 m). Before reaching the village, we trek for a few minutes and descend to the village.

We begin trekking along the Langtang Khola after having light breakfast. The trail then ascends and descends gradually through the dense forest of rhododendrons and oaks. Further, we cross a thrilling bridge over the Langtang Khola. From here, we ascend on a steep path, which will take us to the Lama Hotel where we are going to stop for the night.

Leaving Lama Hotel behind, we ascend enjoying the marvelous mountain landscape and cascading waterfalls. Shortly, we reach a green meadow of Ghoda Tabela. From here, we will get to see a glimpse of snow-capped Langtang Range. Further, our trail ascends towards a valley, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders. On the way, pass by Buddhist monastery and reach the picturesque Langtang village. Sadly, Langtang village was hugely affected by the 2015 devastating earthquake, however, most of the reconstruction has been carried out and the region is again reopened for trekking by the Nepal government.

After a quick breakfast, we begin trekking towards Kyanjin Gompa, which is an important monastery of the Langtang region. On the way, we pass by several prayer wheels, chortens fastened by colorful prayer flags, water mills, and sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. Moreover, we also pass by the largest mani wall of Nepal, built from stone with prayers written on it. Kyanjin Gompa will welcome us with superb views of mountains and landscapes.

Today is our rest day in Kyanjin Gompa. We will spend our day exploring the nearby areas of the Kyanjin Gompa. We can hike up to Langshisha Kharka, which offers striking views of the snow-capped mountains and the surrounding area. We also visit an ancient monastery and a cheese factory. Besides this, there are also several alternative side trips. Make sure to ask your guide.

After having our breakfast, we trek back to Ghoda Tabela. Most of the trail will descend through lush green forests and lovely villages of Tamangs. The trail will present a different view of the Himalayas and landscape.

We descend gradually and then ascend. Further, the trail goes through a forested trail along with a gorgeous view of the landscape. On the way, we might come across Langur Monkeys, rare Himalayan birds, and get to witness red pandas, if we are lucky enough.

Today, we drove back to Kathmandu. On reaching Kathmandu, we check into our hotel and rest for a couple of hours. Later, we will stroll around Thamel and buy souvenirs. In the late evening, we will attend a farewell dinner organized by Company at an authentic Nepali restaurant to celebrate the completion of our Langtang adventure.

Today is an extra day in Kathmandu. As this is free, you can explore on your own and visit the local market. In the late evening, you will attend a farewell dinner organized by Company at an authentic Nepali restaurant to celebrate the completion of your Langtang adventure.

After having the last breakfast of your trip, you will prepare to check-out from the hotel. One of the members from Orbit Alpine Adventure will take you to the airport for your flight back to your home.

Langtang Valley Trek route

Langtang Valley Trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. From Syabrubesi, you will begin trekking towards Lama Hotel through the dense forest of rhododendrons & oaks and crossing a thrilling bridge over the Langtang Khola. Spending a night here, you will head to Langtang village, which will welcome you with fantastic scenery and warm hospitality. Further, the trail will take you to Kyanjin Gompa, where you will take a day off for acclimatization. After spending a day here at Kyanjin Gompa, you will drop down to Ghodatabela and continue trekking towards Syabrubesi.

Langtang Valley Trek difficulty & Altitude Sickness

Langtang Valley Trek is a relatively easy trek. Even though you will be following a Himalayan trail, it is easier to walk on. There will be many ascends & descends with some steep and rugged climbing. You have to walk 5 to 7 hours a day, therefore sound health and good physical fitness are needed to go on this trek. You do not need to have prior trekking experience to go on Langtang Valley trekking.

Because it is a high altitude journey, there are risks of altitude sickness. However, we have designed our itinerary adding ample rest days in between the trek. Likewise, make sure to drink plenty of water and avoid alcoholic drinks & smoking.

Best time to go on Langtang Valley Trek

March to April (Spring) and September to November (Autumn) is the best season to go on Langtang Valley Trek. These are the peak times to go on Langtang Valley Trekking. The sky is usually bright, and views are clear. Similarly, stable weather and moderate climate make the journey pleasant.

Accommodation & Meals

The guesthouse is the main accommodation during Langtang Valley Trek. The guesthouses are run by the locals. You get basic facilities in the guesthouse. The rooms are simple with a double bed and a few pieces of furniture. Likewise, the washroom is usually common. Meals are provided as per the guesthouse's menu. You can get a variety of dishes to dig in, however dal bhat tarkari is the most affordable and filling one. Tibetan, Nepali, Continental, and Indian dishes are mostly available.

You will find drinking water everywhere on Langtang Valley Trek 12 Days. All the guest houses have purified/boiled water that you can use to refill your water bottle. We request you to not buy water bottles during your trip as it will pollute the environment. Plus with the increase of altitude, bottled water will also get expensive. Therefore, do carry a couple of reusable water bottles with yourself.

Communication & Electricity

You will find telephone/internet connections from time to time during your Langtang Valley Trek. However, isolation and unpredictable weather can become the reason for weak connections, therefore do not completely rely on them and enjoy the journey. Electricity is available everywhere. Solar electricity is mostly used by locals. Even though you will get a place to charge your devices, it might cost you a few extra bucks. Therefore, we highly encourage you to carry extra batteries and not depend on charging.

Travel Insurance

Getting travel insurance is like a backup for you in case of an emergency that comes with traveling, especially in isolated regions, where there are no proper roadways or any other infrastructures. Therefore, we highly recommend you to get all-inclusive travel insurance before commencing your trek. Make sure to check that your travel insurance includes things like airlift, medical bills, hospital bills, flight cancelation, and property loss or theft.

Guide & Porter

During the trek, you will be guided by a licensed and English speaking Sherpa guide. Our guides are well-trained and certified in various fields from first aid, rescue to climbing. Likewise, they have years of expertise on the Himalayan terrain and have led several groups successfully. You will be trekking with a team of experts who are well known with the Himalayan trails and help you complete the journey smoothly.
