Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is a beautiful journey in the North West of Kathmandu valley in the Langtang region that will take you to close with one of the pristine and holy lakes of Nepal, Gosaikunda Lake. As Langtang Gosaikunda Trek will take you to Langtang National Park, you will get to witness a huge variety of floras and faunas preserved inside the park. Moreover, the Gosaikunda area is a religious site for Hindus and as per Hindu mythology attributes Gosaikunda as the abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Gauri. Along the way, you will get to see panoramic views of Mt. Annapurna (8,091), Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m), Langtang Range (7,234 m), Mt. Gaurishanker (7,134 m), Buddha Himal (7,200 m), Mt. Dorje Lhakpa (6,966 m), and Ganesh Himal (7,429 m).

You will be welcomed by one of our team representatives at the Tribhuvan International Airport terminal, so find him with your nameplate on his hand. He will take you to your hotel where you will stay for the night. After relaxing a few hours, you get to meet with your guide in your hotel lobby. He will brief you about the trip and take you to a restaurant where you will eat traditional welcome dinner organized by the company.

You wake up early and go on a guided sightseeing tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. During the tour, you will visit Swayambhunath, Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Later, in the day, you prepare for the trek.

After having breakfast, we drive to Syabrubesi in a private tourist/van. Syabrubesi is a beautiful village and the starting point of treks in the Langtang region. The drive will be long on a winding road. The journey will present us astonishing views of Mt. Annapurna (8,091), Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m), and Ganesh Himal (7,429 m).

Trekking along the Langtang Khola, we will ascend to a ridge. We will then descend gradually through a dense forest of rhododendrons and oaks. Crossing an exciting bridge over the Langtang Khola, we ascend on a steep path, which will take us to the Lama Hotel where we will stop for the night.

From Lama Hotel, we ascend enjoying the beautiful mountain landscape and cascading waterfalls. The trail will lead us to the green meadow of Ghoda Tabela from where we can see a glimpse of the snow-capped Langtang Range (7,234 m). We then gradually climb uphill passing by a few temporary settlements used by herders and reach Langtang village.

Today, we trek towards Kyanjin Gompa, an important monastery of the Langtang region. Passing by water mills, several prayer wheels, chortens fastened by colorful prayer flags, and sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them, we reach Kyanjin Gompa. We also pass by the largest mani wall of Nepal before reaching Kyanjin Gompa.

Today is our acclimatization day in Kyanjin Gompa. We will explore around and hike up to Langshisha Kharka or Tsergo-Ri for excellent views of the snow-capped mountains and the surrounding area. Here, we will also visit an ancient monastery and a cheese factory.

Today, we trek back to Lama Hotel following the same trail. We will descend through lush green forests and lovely villages of Tamangs. The trail will present a different view of the Himalayas and landscape.

We descend gradually and then ascend on a quite rugged path. Further, we trek through the forested trail along with an impressive view of the landscape. On the way, we come across Langur Monkeys and rare Himalayan birds along with the red panda, if we are lucky enough. We will then ascend on a steeply terraced field and reach Thulo Syabru. Thulo Syabru is located at the top of a hill and offers captivating views of Langtang Himal (7,234 m ) and Ganesh Himal (7,429 m).

Leaving Thulo Syabru behind, we ascend through a beautiful forest of rhododendron and reach Phoprang Danda (3,190 m). As the trail will be forested, we might get to see monkeys. Further, we reach Sing Gompa/Chandan Bari and the trail from here finally leads us to Lauribina, which will welcome us with stunning views of Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m), Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m), Ganesh Himal (7,429 m), and several other snow-capped peaks.

After having breakfast, we ascend towards Gosaikunda. The trail will go through several villages and forested trails. On the way, we get to see enchanting scenic views. We visit the holy Gosaikunda Lake. There are several lakes in this region like Saraswati Kund, Bhairav Kund, Gosaikunda, Dudhkund ( Milk lake), Chandrakund (Moon Lake), Amakund (mother lake), and Ragatkund (blood Kund). Among all these lakes Gosaikunda is the biggest and the main holy lake. Besides trekkers, every year hundreds of pilgrims visit this lake to worship.

The trail descends to Chandan Bari. Trekking through small villages and lush forest, you reach Chandan Bari. On the way, you get to see impressive scenery.

After having breakfast, you continue trekking towards Dhunche. The trail gradually drops down through small settlement areas and rhododendron forests.

Today, we drove back to Kathmandu. On reaching Kathmandu, we check into our hotel and rest for a couple of hours. Later, we will stroll around Thamel and buy souvenirs. In the late evening, we will attend a farewell dinner organized by Company at an authentic Nepali restaurant to celebrate the completion of our Langtang adventure.

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to your home as per your flight time. Our representative will bid you our last goodbye at the airport, and you will head towards your further journey.

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek route

You will begin your adventurous 16 days Langtang Gosaikunda Trek with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. Syabrubesi is the starting point of your trek. You will trek towards picturesque Langtang village via Lama Hotel. From Langtang village, you will ascend to Kyanjin Gompa, where you will take a day off for acclimatization. Further, you will descend to Lama Hotel and move towards Thulo Syabru. The trail from here onwards leads to Gosaikunda village en route Lauribina. Spending a night at Gosaikunda, you will drop down to Chandan Bari and continue towards Dhunche.

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek difficulty & Altitude Sickness

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek difficulty level is marked demanding, which means you have to be in good shape to go on this trek. You do not need prior trekking experience to go on this trek, however you have to be in good shape and health. If you have any past medical records, then do consult with your doctor as well as inform us so that we can take precautions during the trek.

Likewise, there are also risks of altitude sickness on Langtang Gosaikunda Trek 15 Days because you will be trekking above 4,000 meters. Therefore, it is suggested to drink enough water and have sound sleep to decrease the chances of altitude sickness.

Best time to go on Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

March to May and September to December is the best time to go on Langtang Gosaikunda Trek. Spring and autumn are the seasons that fall under these months. You will find stable weather and a moderate climate during this time of the year, which makes the journey smooth and pleasant. Similarly, during spring, you get to see numerous species of floras throughout the trail and get to enjoy the Nepali festival in autumn.

Accommodation & Meals

You stay overnight in a guesthouse during Langtang Gosaikunda Trek. The rooms will be clean, cozy and well-furnished along with common washrooms and double beds. You will get basic facilities in the guesthouse and get to experience the lifestyle of the locals. Do carry a nice sleeping bag with you to protect yourself from the cold. Other facilities like a hot shower, etc might be available at some teahouses, but in exchange for a few bucks.

Meals will be served as per the menu of the guesthouse. You get three meals a day during the trek. You can expect Tibetan, Nepali, and Indian cuisine on the menu. Dishes like dal bhat tarkari, eggs, bread, veggies, curries, porridge, thukpa, noodles, momo, etc are generally available.

Communication & Electricity

Depending on the elevation cellular network and Wifi might be available. As Langtang Gosaikunda Trek takes you to a remote mountainous region, the communication service may or may not be available all the time. Likewise, solar electricity is generally used by the villagers. Even though you will get a place to charge your devices, it might cost you a few extra bucks. Therefore, we highly encourage you to carry extra batteries and not depend on charging.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is needed to go on Langtang Gosaikunda Trekking. Travel insurance is like a safety backup for you in the Himalayas. Make sure to check that your travel insurance includes things like airlift, medical bills, hospital bills, flight cancelation, and property loss or theft. You are not allowed to take out travel insurance in Nepal, so make sure to get one from your home country.
