Chulu East Peak Climbing is a challenging and adventurous climbing peak in the Annapurna Himalayas. Standing at an elevation of 6,429 meters, Chulu East Peak is part of Damodar Himal. In the south of the peak, Marsyangdi River and Mesokanto La is situated, whereas in the west there is Kali Gandaki and in the north, there is Parchekya La (5,447m). Climbing Chulu East Peak is perfect for climbers who are seeking something distinct and thrilling in the Himalayas. 

The trail to Chulu East Peak summit is technical and requires knowledge of technical climbing. During the climbing, you get to see breath-taking views of numerous Himalayan mountains like Annapurna Range (8,091 m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m), Tilicho Peak (7,134 m), Lamjung Himal (6,983m), etc. We have also added picturesque Manang village and challenging Thorong La Pass in our Chulu East Peak Climbing itinerary. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will get greeted by one of our team delegates. He/she will take you to the hotel that we have already booked for you. You can rest and explore the vibrant streets of Thamel. In the late evening, you will join the welcome dinner organized by the company.

The day begins early with a delicious breakfast and a warm cup of coffee. You go on a guided sightseeing tour, where you will visit ancient temples, shrines, palaces, and courtyards. We have arranged a professional guide with you who will brief you about all the places you will visit. In the late afternoon, you prepare for the trek.

After having a delicious breakfast, you drive to Chamje. The drive will be long and presents beautiful sceneries. Upon reaching Chamje, you spend the rest of the day relaxing.

Crossing a suspension bridge, you ascend and reach Sattale. From here, you walk on a rocky path and descend to a grassy river bank. Further, the trail passes by Tal and walking on a narrow path, you reach Dharapani.

The trail goes through forest ridges and takes you to Chame. It is the headquarters of the Manang District. While trekking, you get to see stunning views of Annapurna II, Annapurna IV, Lamjung Himal, and other mountains.

From Chame, you begin walking on a steep narrow path that passes through a dense forest. You will reach a dramatic curved rock face. It will be tough to pass this path. The valley soon opens up and climbs to Pisang. Before reaching Pisang, you get to see a huge rock face (1,500 m).

The trail goes through a lush forest of pine. Today, you will leave the tree line and descend to Ngawal village. The trail passes by Upper Pisang offering stunning views of Annapurna range.

Today, you spend the day resting and exploring around the village. It is a rest day to acclimate your body.

The trail climbs through vertical pastures and rocky paths. You gradually ascend and reach Chulu East Base Camp. On the way, you get to see wonderful views of the Annapurna range.

From the base camp, you ascend to Chulu East High Camp. The trail offers superb landscapes. Walking on a steep path, you reach the high camp and set the tents with your crew members.

Today, you ascend towards the summit of Chulu East Peak. The trail ascends along a glacier on a slippery path. On the way, you get to see fantastic views of snow-capped mountains from several different points. Upon reaching the summit, you spend some time and drop down to the base camp following the same path.

This day is extra in Manang village for rest. Having a rest day in between the trek will give time to your body to adjust to the altitude and keep you away from the altitude sickness. Today, you will explore the village and interact with the locals. You also go on a short hike to Bhojo Guma or Gangapurna Lake.

Leaving Manang behind, the trail heads to Yak Kharka. The trail passes by grazing land offering stunning views of Mt. Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, and Mt. Annapurna.

After having breakfast, you trek to Thorong Phedi. The trail ascends offering excellent views of snow-capped mountains.

Today is going to be the most challenging and longest day on your trek. You wake up early and begin ascending towards the Thorong La Pass. It is the highest passes in Nepal. The route to this pass is steep and full of boulders. Upon reaching the pass, you get to see the breath-taking landscape. Further, you descend to one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in Nepal, Muktinath Temple.

You will begin the day visiting Muktinath Temple early in the morning. After that, you descend and join the Kali Gandaki river valley. Trekking through small villages, you reach Jomsom, the headquarters of Mustang

From Jomsom, you take an early morning flight to Pokhara. The flight offers tempting views of Annapurna Himalayas. As you land at Pokhara airport, one of our team members will take you to the hotel. You can rest for the day or visit some tourist sites.

You have both options to fly/drive to Kathmandu. Either way, you get to witness wonderful views. After reaching Kathmandu, you move to the hotel. You can use the left day to do shopping and rest. In the evening, you will have a farewell dinner organized by the company

Today is an extra day in Kathmandu. You spend the day exploring around and doing shopping. In the evening, you meet with other team members over farewell dinner.

You wake up early and prepare to leave. As per your flight departure time, our team representative will take you to the airport and wishes you a safe flight back to your home.

Useful Information

Chulu East Peak Climbing route

Chulu East Peak Climbing begins with a long scenic drive from Kathmandu to Chamje. From here, you trek through dense forests and small villages to reach Pisang. The trail gradually ascends to Ngawal village, where you take a day break for acclimatization. Further, the trail climbs to Chulu East Base Camp and then to Chulu East High Camp. Following the lead of your guide, you reach the summit of Chulu East Peak and descend to the base camp through the same path. You then cross challenging Thorong La Pass and spend a night at holy Muktinath Temple. The trail then takes you to Jomsom from where you take a stunning flight back to Pokhara.

Chulu East Peak Climbing difficulty & Altitude Sickness

Chulu East Peak is known as a comparatively easiest peak to climb than the other three Chulu Peaks. However, for beginner climbers, the trail will be tough and challenging. You will be gaining elevation beyond 6,000 meters that can make walking exhausting and increase the chances of altitude sickness. You do not have to worry about altitude sickness as we have designed our Chulu East Peak Climbing itinerary including ample rest days. You have to be in good shape and health to go on this adventurous journey. 

Best time to go on Chulu East Peak Climbing

Spring (March to April) and Autumn (October to November) is the most ideal time to go on Chulu East Peak Climbing. The stable weather and moderate climate make the journey pleasant & smooth. Other months of the year are not suitable for climbing Chulu East Peak.

Accommodation & Meals

On Chulu East Peak Climbing, you spend nights in a teahouse in the villages. The teahouse will offer you basic facilities with a double room and shared washroom. Likewise, while climbing, you stay overnight in tented camps carried by our team members. The tents we offer are of high-quality. All the crew members will get a single sleeping tent with a shared washroom and dining tents. 

Meals will be served as per the menu of the teahouse. Similarly, our well-trained crew members will cook meals for you during climbing. You will get a variety of meals during climbing. Dishes like rice, curries, veggies, eggs, meat, porridge, pasta, toast, sandwich, soup, dumpling, etc are available. We will make sure you are getting high-calorie meals during the climbing period to maintain your energy. 

Communication & Electricity

During the climbing, you will find a cellular network in lower elevation. For a better network, we recommend you to carry a local SIM card. From base camp onwards, your team leader will use a satellite phone to contact the management team in the city to report the situation. Likewise, you can see both hydroelectricity and solar power in the villages. Don't rely on charging batteries and do carry extra batteries with you. 

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is mandatory to have to join Chulu East Peak Climbing. Your travel insurance must cover things like emergency evacuation, hospital bills, medical bills, flight cancellation, and loss or theft of the property. You have to take out travel insurance from your home country as the Nepal government does not issue it for foreigners. If you fail to present travel insurance, you will not be able to join the trip.

Guide & Porter

You will be guided by professional climbing guides and porters during Chulu East Peak Climbing. Our guides are active climbers with many years of experience in trekking and climbing in the Himalayas. They are well-trained under many different situations like rock climbing, first aid, remote survival, etc. During climbing, the guide will help you fix the rope and cross technical sections. Likewise, your guide will also give you basic climbing training and teach you proper use of gear before climbing.

Environmental Contribution

We run eco-friendly tours and trek through Nepal. Mountains are our home, a place where we belong, and to protect it, we have been taking several measures in adoption during our trip. Likewise, we are also running a small organization that funds the education fees of children from underprivileged families.
