Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal is one of the best sightseeing spots in Nepal. It is a city of temples and Stupas that goes back up to the 5th century. There are seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley as Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Changu Narayan temple.
A day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu includes four sites and it is not possible to cover all the sites in a day. After breakfast, the tour starts for the whole day. Kathmandu Durbar Square is also known as the Hanumandhoka Durbar Square. Most of the deities are located in the open space. Pagoda style temples and classical architectures are awesome. The living goddess Kumari lives in this square. Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey temple is located on the hill top in Kathmandu. It is a famous Stupa which is believed to have emerged itself. It is a centre place for Buddhists. Pashupatinath temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is situated by the Bagmati River. Hindu devotees from all over the world like to visit there and worship. Boudhanath is a large Stupa, which is situated in a bit distance from central Kathmandu. Day 3 :Monuments to visit in Kathmandu Darbar Square area patan durbar squareKumari Baha- Etymologically, ‘Kumari’ stands for a virgin girl- the living goddess and is a monastery in local tongue. Designed in Vihara architecture, Kumari houses the living goddess. As a living reincarnation of Hindu goddess Taleju, a young girl is selected from a Buddhist family maintaining religious harmony and co-existence. The cult resembles Dalai Lama. The girl gets retired when she reaches puberty. Kalabhairav– The lie-detector god, often known as the justice-god as it was used to sore the truth from the suspected criminals back in 17th century. The destructive manifestation of Shiva, one of the prominent Hindu gods.
Day 4 :Pashupatinath – Bouddhanath and Nagarkot Tours Today we are taking you to two different cultural sites and a natural site. We start from Pashupatinath, literally- the god of animal lives. As one of the must visit legendary Hindu temple in the subcontinent, this site welcomes millions of visitors every year. The temple is located on the bank of sacred Bagmati River, which runs down to the Ganges. Here, you get a chance to witness open public crematorium with all the rites and rituals being performed. You come to see even the holy men posing for pictures with painted face, dreadlocked hair and ash-applied body. Today’s Kathmandu tour continues to Bouddhanath, the god of wisdom. It is considered as one of the largest Stupas in the world. Constructed back in the 4th century, this Sputa is the must visit site for the Tibetans. The shrine itself resembles a Tibetan village since the locale comprises Tibetan monasteries and the exiles. Besides this, there are a number of painting schools with Lamas painting Thanka, the best souvenirs from Nepal. Escaping from the crowd and noise of the town, our excursion moves to peaceful country.
